 HAPPY EOSTUR...

EASTER, also called PASCHA, is the most important religious feast in the Christian Liturgical year. Christians celebrate this day in observance of their belief that jesus rose from the dead on the third day after his crucifixion, now estimated to have taken place between the years AD 26 and AD36. Many non-religious cultural elements have become part of the holiday, and those aspects are often celebrated by many Christians and non-Christians alike.

Easter is linked to the Jewish PASSOVER not only for much of its symbolism but also for its position in the calendar. The last supper shared by jesus and his disiciples before his crucifiction is generally thought of as a passover meal.

GERMANIC LANGUAGES...

The Modern English term Easter developed from the old English word Eastre, which itself developed prior to AD 899. The name refers to the EOSTUR-MONATH, a month of the Germanic calendar which may have been named for the Goddess Eastre in Germanic Paganism..

In his DE TEMPORUM RATIONE, BEDE, an 8th century Christian monk, wrote in latin. " EOSTUR-MONATH, QUI NUNC PASCHALIS MENSIS INTERPRETATUR, QUONDAM A DEA ILLORUM QUAE EOSTRE VOCABATUR ET CUI IN ILLO FESTA CELEBRABANT NOMEN HABUIT."
Which translates as::

" EOSTUR-MONATH, WHICH IS INTERPRETED AS THE PASCHAL MONTH, WAS FORMALY NAMED AFTER THE GODDESS EOSTRE, AND HAS GIVEN ITS NAME TO THE FESTIVAL."

An other example of Christians taking a Pagan celebration and making it their own...

 FDA ISSUES WARNING FOR HONDURAS CANTALOUPES.

WASHINGTON, D.C. ---- People should throw away cantaloupes from a Honduran manufacturer believed to be linked to a salmonella outbreak, the government said Saturday. The Food and Drug Administration issued the alert for the melons from AGROPECUARIA MONTELIBANO. Grocers are advised to remove from their stock any cantaloupes from this company. People should check with stores to see if recently purchased cantaloupes came from Honduras.

So far, 50 people have become sickened in 16 states and nine have become ill in Canada after eating the cantaloupes. No deaths have been reported, although 14 people have been hospitalized, the FDA said. The government also is seeking to detain all cantaloupes shipped to the United States by AGROPECUARIA MONTELIBANO.. The FDA said it was taking this step while continues to investigate the outbreak with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention..

To reduce the risk of contracting salmonella or other foodborne illnesses from cantaloupes, the FDA recommends:
* Purchasing cantaloupes that are not bruised or damaged. If buying fresh-cut cantaloupe, refrigerate or surround it with ice.
( PERSONNALY I WOULD NOT BUY ANY CANTALOUPE... PERIOD....)

* Washing hands with hot, soapy water before or after handling fresh cantaloupes.

* Scrubbing whole cantaloupes by using a clean produce brush and cool tap water immediately before eating.

* Cutting away and not eating bruised or damaged areas of the cantaloupe.

* Discarding leftover cut cantaloupe if left at room temperature for more than two hours.

Symptoms of foodborne salmonella infection include nausea, vomiting, fever, diarrhea as well as abdominal cramps. The 16 states which have reported illnesses are Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, New jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennesse, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin.
